Welcome aboard our evolving visual journal of sailing adventures around Sri Lanka. Here you’ll find photos and short video updates from Bolgoda Lake, coastal expeditions, marina visits, boat projects, and life on the water aboard our MacGregor 26M trailer sailor. New content will be added regularly as we continue exploring the island’s beautiful coastline, hidden anchorages, and sailing destinations.

After many years working abroad and dreaming about a simpler life connected to the ocean, I returned to Sri Lanka to pursue a long-standing passion for sailing and adventure. What began as a personal project restoring and preparing a trailer sailor has slowly grown into a journey of exploration, learning, and sharing the beauty of Sri Lanka’s waterways with others. This site documents that ongoing adventure — from boat work and marina life to coastal sailing, travel stories, and future expeditions still being planned.

Sailing Around Sri Lanka

Welcome to the coastal sailing expedition around the tropical island of

Sri Lanka. This project documents the preparation, launch, and circumnavigation of the island aboard a MacGregor 26 M, mono hull sailboat. The cruise will take us to some parts of the coast and outer islands rarely visited. Adventure, seamanship, and storytelling are in order for sure.

The coastal navigation adventure began in early 2026, with the acquisition of the boat, permits, licensing, outfitting and preparation is progressing  for the ocean voyage around the Island of approximately 1500 kilometers.

This journey is both a personal milestone and a platform to showcase Sri Lanka as an destination for small vessel sailing.

Through regular updates, onboard video, and real-time tracking, this site will follow the voyage as it unfolds—exploring harbors, coastal communities, and a study of seasonal monsoons that shapes sailing in this section of Indian Ocean.

Future plans include a voyage the Maldives and South India, with the goal of building visibility for regional, organized sailing events in the years ahead.

Join the Adventure

Join us as we document a thrilling circumnavigation of Tropical Island

Sri Lanka aboard 'Yet to be named" MacGregor 26M sailboat.  We’re here to share our journey and inspire others to explore the clear blue waters along  1500 Kilometers of wonderous Tropical Coastline.

This section is designed as a practical resource hub for a wide range of ocean users, including cruising sailors, surfers, divers, marine habitat students and researchers, environmental and Clean Sri Lanka initiatives, tourists, wetland bird watchers, deep-sea leisure fishermen, kayakers, and recreational boaters. It also serves those closely following Indian Ocean weather patterns and coastal conditions. Through structured sections such as Weather & Monsoons,
Safe Harbor & Anchorage, Coastal Navigation, Charts & Starlink connectivity, Authorities and Coast Guard/Navy contact information, Marine Life guidelines, Communications, Safe Passage planning, and insights into local language and traditional coastal life, the site aims to provide useful, real-world information for anyone engaging with
Sri Lanka’s coastal environment.
